What is "Death Wobble"? Death wobble is when worn out suspension and steering components are affected by vibration resonance, or more simply put a situation where specific vibration harmonics exponentially amplify external vibrations from the road, usually around 50mph with the only way to stop it is to slow to under 25mph. See our video here of an actual customer vehicle before repair for extreme "death wobble".
Unfortunatly despite popular belief, a new or stronger steering stabilizer is not the solution to death wobble. While it may provide some kind of temporary fix, all the worn components that ruined the original stabilizer will quickly wipe out the new one, no matter how strong it claims to be. In our experience over the years, we have found the only really true way to permanently solve death wobble is to replace ALL front suspension and steering components that have bushings or wear joints. This includes ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, etc. Shocks are also usually worn out as well, requiring replacement. The theory we have here is that death wobble is not caused by just one worn component, which is why we discourage the approach of replacing single parts. We have found that death wobble is the end result of a domino affect starting with one part wearing out, putting more forces and pressures on the other still good parts. With all the other parts "picking up the slack" for the worn out part, those parts are worn at an extremely accelerated pace. When another part fails from this added work, it just multiples the whole problem, forcing even more pressure on the other still good parts. Death wobble symptoms usually are noticed well into this domino falling process. We have even found death wobble issues have reached the rear suspension as well as the front. That is why here at Conley Performance, we suggest inspecting the whole steering and suspension systems to determine a permanent solution, not just a temporary "band aid" fix. We are so confident in our skills and experience with death wobble over the years that we guarantee we can fix your death wobble or you won't pay!
